THE RULES

Give us two random words for which Ralph will do a google search and we will talk about what it brings us.

No profanity.  We make sure the safe search is on, as to be honest the results are far more interesting.  Besides we are Scottish.  We swear better than anyone else.

While we can’t enforce this, don’t do the search yourself beforehand, that would be daft and you might be disappointed if we don’t look up the same link as yourself.

Our slavish devotion to Marvel UK and in particular Geoff Senior and Death’s Head means we find ourselves looking at Battlefield Easter Special and then takes us into talk about the Thundercats comic from Panini as we examine issue 1.

Shits and Googles sees us search for Marsupial Cottages and learn about Australian Megafauna.

Recorded on our titanic trip to the Death Fortress in Swindon.  Our kind hosts Phil Ayres and his good lady wife Liz join us on the podcast along with Karl Thurgood, Nick aka Toy-Fu and Martin McVay.

We spend some time looking at Fisto from Masters of the Universe before turning our gaze towards Transformers: Regeneration One Issue 80.5 published by IDW and made available for Free Comic Book Day 2012 and the precursor to the continuation of the old school Marvel comic.

We tell you just how tasty the Doctor Who Celebration Cake is in a second Stardub Taste Challenge.

For fans of great literature we look over the mighty tome that is The Secret of the Sword Ladybird book.  A gift courtesy of friend of the show Glenn “Dreadwind” Jakeman of the splendid Back to the 80′s podcast.

Grufflock of The Old Oil House podcast demanded that we speak of Zoids and in particular the Marvel UK comic.  Which we had no qualms in doing.  He also hijacked Shits and Googles and suggested Ralph search for an image search and the words “Moomin” and “Costume”.

We cast a critical eye over a couple of the Marvel Big Looker Transformers books – Insecticon Attack and Car Show Blow Up.  We say critical – you know we love Transformers we aren’t going to give them a kicking.

Shits and Googles – “Fish” and “Fondler” reveal a slightly touching aspect of the hobby of fly fishing.

Bringing the episode to a close we look at The Dalek Chronicles – A Marvel UK special from David Fennell and David Whitaker with art by Richard Jennings and Ron Turner.  A collection of the 60′s Daleks strips.  A hard-to-find comic and one we both recommend you try and track down.

Amicus – The Beast Must Die is our film of choice for the podcast and gives us our title.

In regular feature “shits and googles” – Ralph types in the words “killer” and “cabbage” and somehow comes up with something Beyblade related!

Our exciting publication is Safer Injecting by Lifeline Publications, an illustrated guide on how to inject heroin safely.  A warm, friendly cartoon illustration filled book.  Rather than leave you in a dark place after this we look at the Transformers Generation 1 Hardcover by Chris Sarracini and Superstar Artist Pat Lee.

It’s an Eggstravaganza – as we (p)review some all important Easter Egg purchases for you.  The Cadbury’s Freddo Easter Egg and The Muppets easter egg come under scrutiny.  You’d be a mug to pass up the Muppet egg!

Ralph gets to see Hammer’s The Curse of Frankenstein for the first time ever and is exposed to the best Frankenstein film.

We look at two visions of the future of comics – the Batman CD-Rom Comic Book from the mid 90′s and Shatter – the first computerised comic book by Peter Gillis and Mike Saenz from the 80′s

Ralph types in Fred Hamster to google with surprisingly literarary results.

So why wait?

Well we won’t – Stardub 2.4 Hamster House of Horror will be online tomorrow at 12 noon.

Also – one of our intrepid team takes a Stardub Taste Trial the likes of which you have never heard before!

New theme music, new format – same old tired jokes!

We take time out of your lives to talk to you about Vincent Price as The Saint, Jane Asher in The Curse of the Red Death (also with Vincent Price), Warlock Vol 2.  Issue 1 from 1996 by Tom Lyle published by Marvel Comics and round it off with a random internet search into Farmers Wives and I guarantee you will not guess what google brings us.

Also friend of the show JiiDee hijacks the finale in order to … well listen to find out, but there is lots of swearing.

Episode 8 sees them cast a critical over Hologram Man, a cinematic masterpiece and absolutely not a stopgap replacement because we couldn’t find Digital Man, no sir not at all.

The musical event of the millenium – the reunion of Steps is celebrated as we look at Steps: The Reunion the recently broadcast program showing the reformation of these pop titans.  An insight into the rampaging addiction to Kre-O Transformers that has hit one half of the Turn and Burn gestalt before finishing things off with a fond look at Overkill issue 12 from Marvel UK

This episode the team review Bagpuss Live – a show at the Edinburgh Fringe, starring everybody’s favourite cloth cat.  A great show, but an unusual viewing experience.  Thrill to the Marvel UK William Tell Special – as well as some news relating to the podcast’s coverage of all things Marvel UK .  We round things out with our thoughts on the new film – The Smurfs.

Thrill to the muffled outdoor recording at Linlithgow Palace!  Then recoil in terror as we tackle Van-Pires Transform, Superman IV and the usual nonsense.

No William Tell this episode, Ralph forgot.  Next time though, scouts honour!
